Timoth is 17 years old, attends Istituto Carlo Bazzi in Milan, and comes from Tanzania. His dream? To become a bio-architect—a professional capable of combining aesthetics, functionality, and respect for the environment. His vision of sustainable architecture begins with a dialogue between nature and structure, and he sees the PCTO (Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation—a mandatory educational experience for Italian high school students) as a concrete opportunity to get closer to the world of work and to the reality of construction sites.
Timoth completed his month-long PCTO at CIFA. It wasn’t a random choice: among the options offered by the school, he specifically chose CIFA, drawn by the chance to observe the concrete nature of construction work up close and to experience the practical side of design.
During his internship, Timoth had the opportunity to closely explore the dynamics of a construction site under the guidance of tutors Adriano Scarcella, Trainer at CIFA Academy, and Paolo Ragaini, Product Technical Responsible. He observed the various roles involved and deepened his understanding of how concrete works and is classified—from its composition to its fluidity, and the different types of machinery used to transport and pump it. He learned how to configure machines based on the required pressure and the type of structure involved, gaining knowledge far beyond what is taught in the classroom.
The approach was immersive from a technological perspective as well: from learning how the pumping system works to understanding the Smartronic system with its electronic sensors, all the way to hands-on simulations. Beyond the technical aspects, what struck Timoth most was the human approach he found at CIFA: “Every day it’s a pleasure to come here, you feel appreciated and valued” he says.
His time at CIFA was not just a training experience, but a first step toward a future Timoth wants to build with passion, awareness, and respect for the world around him.
