ABOUT US

95 YEARS OF INNOVATION

Since 1928, CIFA has been designing machines that build the world: houses, hospitals, schools, squares, parks, and theaters; places where life happens. From this mission arises our slogan "We build your world since 1928". We manufacture a complete range of machines and solutions for the production, transportation, and laying of concrete, continuously investing in research and development of products and services.

With multiple production sites in Italy, we have branches and a distribution network worldwide. Thousands of truck mixers and truck-mounted concrete pumps sold over the years, whose prototypes are tested within the TEC (European Testing Center), a state-of-the-art facility managed by an international team of engineers. Innovation is the driving force behind our continuous efforts to design cutting-edge products, seek the best solutions, and tackle challenges.

HISTORY

The history of CIFA is that of a nation and its social, economic and technological changes. Since its foundation in 1928, CIFA has contributed to the narrative of an industrious, ingenious and future-oriented Italy, thanks to the vision of a great entrepreneur and his ability to adapt to market changes.
It is a history that begins with the Ausenda family and spans various eras leading to the acquisition of CIFA, in 2008, by the Chinese industrial group Zoomlion Heavy Industry. This transaction breathed new life into the company, enabling it to invest in products and research even in a period of downturn in the construction market.
It is a history made of research, perseverance and passion, which has made CIFA a benchmark of innovation at international level in the concrete technology field, setting a series of genuine technological records, all the while keeping a strong focus on the customer’s working requirements.

CIFA’s future is founded on three key concepts: new materials, electronics and sustainability. Its products are increasingly ecological, safe and reliable. Energy-saving and respect for the environment guide CIFA’s technological evolution, together with industrialization of new materials with the aim of improving products’ performance and endurance. Finally, ever-growing digitalization makes it possible to develop machines’ safety under any working conditions, with extreme ease of use.

1928 - Foundation

On 7 July 1928, Carlo Ausenda established CIFA, Compagnia Italiana Forme Acciaio, a company which used a patent purchased from the American company Blaw Knox to begin design and manufacture in Italy of formworks for containing concrete casting and manufacture of radio masts and antennas.

1958 - The first concrete mixer

CIFA joined the evolution of the construction market and entered the segment related to equipment for concrete production, transportation and distribution. As a result, the first batching plant was created in 1956, the first truck mixer was launched in 1958 and mixing trains made their début in 1965, followed, at the end of the ‘60s, by the first concrete pumps.

1974 - The world’s first mixer pump

Thanks to the company’s market proximity, in 1974 CIFA designed and built the world’s first mixer pump, which would be named "Magnum” in 1987. For the first time in history, a manufacturer combined the capacity to transport concrete (mixer) with the ability to pump it (pump) on site.

‘80 - Shotcrete

In the ‘80s, CIFA developed the first units for pumping sprayed concrete.

2008 - Acquisition

Zoomlion purchased CIFA, an historic transition marking the Italian company’s history and definitively launching it into the global scene.

2010 - The only ones with carbon fiber

In 2010, for the first time in a truck-mounted concrete pump, two sections of the distribution boom abandoned steel in favour of carbon fiber. Increased lightness for the structure and greater strength compared to traditional steel. Introducing the MK25H Model.

2013 - The first electric mixer: Energya

One of the products emblematic of the innovation of recent years is the Energya hybrid truck mixer. The world’s first model of electric mixer with motor powered by a lithium battery unit. It can be charged by plugging into a mains outlet or, alternatively, during transport using the motor and recovering energy that would otherwise be lost when braking. Energya reduces consumption, noise and carbon dioxide emissions and is the first eco-friendly construction vehicle.

2015 - The first underground mixer

CIFA created Coguaro 4, the first cement mixer for works in tunnels and mines.

2017 - The first electric spritz system

CIFA developed CSSE, the first shotcrete vehicle with electric propulsion.

2018 - The milestone

CIFA celebrated 90 years of business, driven by innovation.

2019 - The first electric mixer pump: Energya MK28E.

Magnum MK28E is the latest product in the CIFA ENERGYA range, joining the mixer and spritz system.

2022 - The first electric truck pump: Energya K42E

K42E is the first totally electric truck-mounted pump to be added to the Energya range. In 2022 it will be presented to the public at the BAUMA fair in Munich.

2023 - CIFA turns 95!

CIFA celebrates 95 years of Made in Italy history with dedicated events and with the illustration created by the hand of the artist Ale Giorgini which represents what CIFA is today, with a future projected towards sustainability.

Production plants

Senago

Since 2002 Senago headquarter has been housing and coordinating the general management, sales, research, planning, manufacturing and marketing. It is also a reference centre for training, updating of technicians, presentation and demonstration of products. In Senago, beside the operational facility, there are production units for Truck Mounted Pumps, Stationary Pumps and products for Underground application (Formworks and Spritz Beton), laying on 55,000 sq.m. In 2013 the headquarter and the factories underwent a restyling of the outer facades and adjustment of production lines inspired to the "lean production" principles and to the zero defect quality.

Castiglione delle Stiviere

The facility in Castiglione delle Stiviere (MN) has been considered since 1972 the supermarket of truck mixers. With a production capacity at operating speed of over 3,000 units per year, it's the real productive platform of Cifa truck mixers for the entire world. Truck mixer pumps are realized in the Mantua facility too, thanks to the experience of over 160 workers and employees of Cifa Mixers. In Castiglione, Cifa also produces batching plants.

Rogolo

From the beginning of the 80s, Cifa Group started planning and producing pipes for distribution of concrete in Rogolo (Italy) site and in 1995 it started planning and producing new highly resistant pipes. After the opening of the foundry in 2002, production of Rogolo site offers a wider product range, with elbows in special alloys, particularly resistant to wear and tear. In 2006 the range is completed with seals, joints, supports, distribution manual arms and other complementary accessories. Since 2008 production is extended to high quality and double thickness pipes, using the competence of an internal R&D centre. Since 2019 the company has got another headquarters in Vasto (Italy), thanks to the acquisition of Pamec.

Faenza (Top Carbon)

The fifth site of Cifa group was opened in Faenza. TOP CARBON Srl was established in 2012 as joint venture between Riba Composites Srl, a company of Bucci Industries Group of Faenza, active in the field of composite materials and carbon fiber, and Cifa SpA. The two companies have been cooperating since 2008 for designing and producing booms for truck mounted pumps. The establishment of this new company represents an evolved form of cooperation between an Italian industrial group and a Chinese one and it reverses the typical trend of delocalizing to China production sites of Italian companies, for the low labour costs. Cifa's original idea to use composite materials for construction machinery found in Riba the ideal and competent partner for manufacturing these components with innovative materials and processes. The knowhow of the two companies led to realize a product that allows Cifa to be on the market with machines equipped with concrete distribution booms that globally help saving 30% of the weight and improving technical performances in terms of lightness and distribution height that can be reached. The original idea and the technological competence developed with tight cooperation between the two companies, brought today to have on the market 8 different models of truck mounted pumps with booms of length between 25 to 101 meters.
